- I am a wife, mother, teacher, owner and lover of many pets: 15 dogs (Labs of all colors and size), 3 cats, 2 African Pygmy goats and one brown and white rat. I also have 3 children. Sam who lives in China, Erin who is moving to China with her husband, Ben; and Megan who is moving back to Topeka from St. Louis. I've had two husbands. John for the first half of my life who died too young. Butch for the second half of my life who is growing old with me. My mother lives next to us in her own little apartment with her small dog, Trinket. I teach. I am a teacher. It is a huge part of my life. It's what I am, not what I do.
